What is meant by gripping the left hand with a long thumb?

Hey Steve! Thanks for reaching out and thanks for the question! As it relates to the left hand on the grip for a RH player, the feeling of a “long left thumb” is something we subscribe to in Tathata Training to increase leverage on the shaft of the club. Simply put the left hand thumb is fully extended down the shaft for strength creating or supporting the look of a “long thumb.” The hands are built to support strength on the shaft to create absolute safety into impact so the face of the club is absolutely square!
